somewhat settled in my temporary apartment for now, have been busy buying furniture and stuffs (and guiltily splurged at the mall, more specifically my all-time favourite VS) sister was telling me how stunning i looked in this purple satin top from Express, but i was close to being cash-less after shopping at VS, so i couldnt buy that gorgeous top, nor the Guess shoes on 40% discount (like, USD50++ before tax), nor the Juicy slippers ):
i think first thing on my to-do list will be to find a job, but i can only work on campus, so it's going to be difficult to find one. &i'll need to drive, it's seriously so darn inconvenient here.
people are generally nice here. though i've met two... idk how to describe men. one's this black man whom i've encountered outside the airport, on my way from arrival hall to terminal 7. i was just, focused on getting to my destination, as my laptop's weight was killing my shoulders, when he suddenly just, talked in my direction. i didn't catch what he was saying, and i wasn't sure if he really was talking to me, so i just walked off.
&he called me a dumb bitch under his breath.
gah! at that point of time i was just freaked out that he might stalk me or like hit me, so i just fastened my pace, haha. it's kinda stupid to think back now, but my sister told me that i should just walk away. she said that sometimes on the streets there will be people who approach you for money, alone or in groups. &usually she's just too scared to reject. ohwells, it's nothing about prejudice or generosity or whatsoever, it's just, human nature and self protection i think. after all i AM alone then so who knows.
as for the second person, my sister and i saw him across the street on our way to the bank. he's this middle-aged white man, topless, shouting to apparently nobody as he walks down the street. all the other pedestrians were either freaked out or amused. well what he said wasn't really, pleasant to pen down, since it mostly consisted of the f-letter word and just how he hates his life.
i guess wherever you are, there will always be people of various personalities around.
on a lighter note, i think the customers' service here is really good. shopping & dining have been splendid (esp. the refund policy! haha), and the only down side is the tax (8%). really feel lucky that i have my sister and allen around here, if not it'd have been so tough to get somewhere.
the weather is surprisingly more bearable than that in pingtung. and the sky is just breath-taking.
my laptop's driver's lacking so, will post more when i get my new laptop (:
